Vuelve en EE.UU. el desfile de Victoria’s Secret tras cinco años de pausa

La marca estadounidense de lencería Victoria’s Secret anunció este miércoles el regreso en este otoño boreal de su desfile anual, cancelado en 2019 en un contexto de pocas ventas y caída de la audiencia de este evento en el que participaban las modelos más destacadas del mundo.
A través de un video publicado en su cuenta de la red Instagram el grupo anunció: “El desfile vuelve en otoño”, sin dar detalles concretos de fecha, ubicación ni modelos contratadas.
“Leímos los comentarios y los escuchamos. El desfile de modas de Victoria’s Secret regresa y mostrará quiénes somos hoy, además de todo lo que conocen y aman: el glamour, la pasarela, las alas, el espectáculo musical y más”, agregó la firma, que se refería a sus “ángeles” -el apodo de las modelos que desfilaban con alas gigantes adosadas en la espalda.

Este desfile, estrenado en 1995, era seguido en todo el mundo por millones de espectadores, pero su número fue disminuyendo con el paso de los años. En 2014, atrajo a nueve millones de estadounidenses a sus pantallas, pero en 2018 solo hubo 3,3 millones de televidentes.
Modelos famosas como las brasileñas Gisele Bündchen y Adriana Lima, la alemana Heidi Klum y la británica Naomi Campbell han desfilado para la marca y pasaron a ser “ángeles”, garantizándose una buena cuota de celebridad.
Estrellas del mundo de la música como Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Rihanna y Bruno Mars también se han presentado durante los desfiles.
La marca era propiedad del grupo L Brands, que se escindió para crear dos empresas independientes.
Victoria’s Secret también sufrió por ser asociada al caso del financista neoyorquino Jeffrey Epstein, que se suicidó en prisión en agosto de 2019 tras ser acusado de múltiples agresiones sexuales a menores durante muchos años en fiestas en una isla particular junto a personalidades del jet set.
Epstein fue cercano durante mucho tiempo a Leslie Wexner, dueño de L Brands.
