Las visas de turistas representan aproximadamente el 90 % de las solicitudes procesadas para no inmigrantes
La sección consular de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Santo Domingo ha procesado más de 168 mil visas para viajeros temporales (no inmigrante) desde octubre pasado hasta mediados de este mes.
De esta cantidad, más de 152 mil corresponden a visas de turistas o visas B, según la información ofrecida a Diario Libre por Chelsia Hetrick, consejera de Asuntos Públicos de la misión estadounidense en el país.
Esto significa que las visas de paseo representan aproximadamente el 90 % de las solicitudes procesadas dentro de la categoría de no inmigrante, que también incluye visados para estudiantes de intercambio y trabajadores temporales.
En concreto, los datos corresponden al período transcurrido entre octubre de 2023 al 14 del mes en curso, coincidiendo con los primeros seis mes del año fiscal estadounidense, en los que la Embajada fue una de las misiones que más visados de no inmigrante emitió a nivel mundial en dicho período, según dijo esta semana el Departamento de Estado.
La legación diplomática en el país junto con las de México, India, Brasil, China, Colombia, Argentina y Ecuador emitieron, entre octubre del 2023 y marzo de este año, dos tercios de las 4.1 millones de visas para turistas y viajeros temporales en todo el mundo.
Y formó parte del 30 % de las embajadas y consulados estadounidenses que establecieron récords históricos en la emisión de visas de no inmigrantes en los últimos seis meses.
Rumbo las 200 mil visas
Tan solo en 2023, la Embajada estadounidense en República Dominicana logró superar las 130 mil visas procesadas en 2022, al acercarse a la cifra de 180 mil, la que se proponían superar con 200 mil al terminar el año.
Las visas de no inmigrante están dirigidas a aquellas personas que buscan entrar en los Estados Unidos de manera temporal, ya sea por razones de negocios o placer. Estas incluyen unos 20 tipos.
República Dominicana se encuentra entre los 10 países a nivel mundial que más procesa visados de esta categoría hacia los Estados Unidos y ocupa el segundo lugar a nivel mundial en el procesamiento de solicitudes de residencia.
